Dads need to learn how to optimize their running. Simply running on the tracks will not do the job. Here we have a few solutions to help you get rid of the dad bod easy and fast.
As a beginner runner, there are three questions that you should know the answers to: How far should I run? How frequently? And how hard should I run? Let’s take it one step at a time.
How often should I run?
In the beginning, this is always the toughest question to answer. Not knowing the answer leads to guys abruptly ending their ending and not ever looking back. So, the best solution we can give you is “start smaller and then build up.” Set a schedule that you think you can meet. If you think it’s getting too easy, add one more day, but don’t start running all week. We recommend running 3 days a week and then let things run their course. This is the ideal running for dad schedule.
How far should I run?
If you are beginning a fitness program, then this question is very natural. However, we would recommend for the first few weeks you should keep changing this. Rather than worrying about how far, focus on how long you should keep on running. 3 miles per day should be sufficient for you to get started. Once you get the hang of it, you can always keep adding more miles and keep pushing yourself.
With each run, you will acclimate your body to the demands of running. As your body starts to adapt to the demands you place on it, you will see improvements. Our biggest recommendation would be, as a newbie runner is to finish what you start. If you think the goals you have set for yourself are too much, shorten them.
How hard should I run?
Almost every run is hard for a newbie. Changing your schedule and adopting a new lifestyle is never an easy thing in the beginning. Think of it as Newton’s First Law of Motion, also called the Law of Inertia, which explains everybody’s tendency to do nothing or to remain unchanged.
Here’s a secret… your heart doesn’t know if your running or walking. When you work harder than normal, it is going to beat faster and pump more blood through your system and thereby improve your endurance.
Bottom Line
The last advice we would like to give you is taking things easy—no need to create huge, unrealistic goals. Take baby steps and then build on that confidence as you achieve your goals. Choosing to make changes like running is the first step in making lifestyle changes that last a lifetime.
